Leicester’s Ice Cream You Scream

with 2 comments

Earlier this year we worked with previz agency, Three Blind Mice to produce a fun flash game as part of their summer marketing.

The story was relatively simple; Three Blind Mice have left the advertising industry for the summer to run a tastier business on the beach – an ice-cream van! The aim of the game: to serve ice creams to customers.

game reference

To get a better feel for the game, we spent some time looking at existing shop-like games, such as Burger Run and found some visual reference material (above) of ice creams. It was hungry work!

rough sketch

Three Blind Mice’s house team produced some rough layout and character sketches; they looked fantastic! The roughs helped us grasp perspective as well as work out game play.

mock play

While we were organising artwork, we were working with our flash designer on game rules and flash logic, sourcing sound effects and testing the game at various stages. We had to make the game relatively easy to play, yet challenging to score. This was achieved through having to click on items in a specific order and a restricted time limit on play.

instructions

In August, Three Blind Mice launched the game to their friends and clients. Scores ranged from 800 points, up to a difficult 2000 points! Last week, they awarded their generous prize of a summer hamper to top score holder, Catherine Cullen at Adam & Eve DDB. Well done!

Having a Plan: Your Marketing Maestro

Having a Plan: Your Marketing Maestro

This week I have thought hard about where to start and well, the beginning seemed the logical option. Having a plan.

I want to start with an interesting article I read in The Guardian about orchestra conductors. It fascinated me because, like many people, I had always taken for granted the role of a conductor!

A series of moats and fortresses were built over the West Brabant Water Line region of the Netherlands during the 17th century to give protection from invasion by France and Spain. Fort de Roovere was surrounded with a shallow moat that was too deep to march across, and too shallow for boats. In turn the earthen fort had remained protected – until now!

Jelly Wall Art

jelly wallHello!

Whilst Michaela has spent the last few weeks sunning in South Africa, our friends at jelly have been decorating their studio wall with a creative landscape of London.

The art produced by illustrator Matt Johnstone, not only features a pink tower of jelly at its centre as well as agencies such as BBH, Ogilvy, CHI and JWT, but also each member of staff has their own character somewhere on the map!

Apparently this is Michaela! We’ll have to spot her like “Where’s Wally” the next time we visit them in London!

Check out a short time-lapse film of how it was made!
